Home to the Daytona 500, 'The World's Greatest Race', the 480-acre (195-hectare) Daytona International Speedway is also a vast motorsports complex with a wide-ranging racing program.

The two and a half mile (four kilometer) tri-oval speedway opened in 1959, thrilling audiences of up to 150,000 spectators who come to watch races such as the 190 miles (305 kilometers) per hour NASCAR stock car, the 170 miles (275 kilometers) per hour superbike and the 125 miles (200 kilometers) per hour WKA go-cart.

As well as racing, the speedway and park host car shows, receptions, photo shoots, vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.


Day Trip Suggestion
Just west along International Speedway Boulevard is the Klassix Auto Museum whose centerpiece is a collection of every model of Corvette from 1953 to the present.

A mile south from the speedway is the Museum of the Arts and Sciences on Museum Boulevard, a storehouse of prehistoric remains excavated from archaeological sites in Northeast Florida.
